If you're a big wine collector (and drinker!) having a sound storage system at home is key. And while most wine lovers would enjoy a home wine cellar complete with all the bells and whistles, a wine rack is likely more realistic. Plus, wine racks are great! They allow you to organize bottles horizontally, which keeps oxygen from slipping in through the cork for the best conditions possible. And wine racks also happen to be ideal for small spaces, where staying organized and tidy is always welcome. Ready for some creative wine rack ideas and shelf storage tips? We've rounded up our favorites, so read on and clink, clink to better wine storage and home bar design.

A closet-sized wine cellar can be optimized with the right materials and smart storage hacks, like metal racks secured to the walls. If you go the same route or leave yours out in the open on a nonenclosed rack, "be conscious of your exposed, says the designer. Too much direct sunlight accelerates aging, so UV-filtering glass and low-voltage LED bulbs will do wonders.

This freestanding wine rack is perfect for any small-space dweller since it includes shelves and individual leather slings for bottles and glassware. It's slim enough to slide into a corner without blocking any prime usable space, and the minimalist design ensures that it doesn't take up too much visual real estate either. That way, we can focus on the superb lines of this sofa in a living room by ETC.etera.

Leanne Ford Interiors

Leanne Ford Interiors wisely placed a wine rack on the wall between the kitchen and the open dining room. It's also a great additional piece if your entertaining space is far from your cellar.

Andrew Frasz

More of a bar cart kind of person? Though they don't usually allow for horizontal storage, they work just fine! Displaying family photos and easy-access waters for guests on a circular bar cart gives this living room designed by Bunny Williams and Ferguson & Shamamian Architects even more character. The cheeky statue of Allen Iverson in the corner is a fun surprise, too.

You don't need a full room to create a stylish and climate-optimized cellar. Take note of this wine cooler integrated into a kitchen island designed by Pembrooke & Ives. Of course, this is more involved than your average wine rack, but it's a great idea if you're starting from scratch.
