So we rounded the best bike storage ideas that won't cramp your style, complete with examples from designer spaces. Ahead, you'll find solutions for both indoor and outdoor spaces, in small spaces, garages, basements, and more, so you can safely store your bike(s) while getting some much-needed real estate back in your home.

Colorado-based interior designer Erin Hurley wanted to transform a garage into a retreat for cycling aficionados. The bike storage rack hangs from circular wooden hooks that blend seamlessly into the background. There is also a neon-lit bike installation that mimics the mountains and doubles as a bench.

Among other parts of the property, award-winning architect Gil Schafer renovated this barn, which he uses as a garage, and the other side (not shown) as an exercise and meditation space. He included a bike storage space for his wife and his bikes, who are empty nesters and wanted to take full advantage of the outdoors in Maine.

“To have a staircase in New York is quite exceptional," noted designer Alexander Doherty. He focused on using every inch of square footage when designing this duplex in the West Village. Since there's no outdoor storage, the cubby under the stairwell can be a great place to store a fold-up bike and sports gear.

Designer Justine Cushing transformed a Southhampton garage into a home. There are outdoor activities by the beach, and bikes are temporarily stored in the kitchen. A great storage solution for a tight space is the bike nook stand. Look for an underutilized corner and simply wedge your bike into the nook. The stand is lightweight and portable so it can easily fit into a tight space.

This tiny garage was converted into a guest house by designer Cameron Schwabenton, who calls it "The Sunshine House." To truly enjoy the outdoor space, she created a mini terrace. The goal was to make the outdoors an extension of the living space inside. To keep the bike safe from the outdoor elements, choose a waterproof bike cover.

Sometimes the only storage solution is to build up. This playful pulley system uses a cable wire and hardware that attaches to the ceiling. You can pull the cable wire to lift the bike, so it's suspended in the air.

Interior designer Tom Scheerer renovated this barn in Maine, and it's the perfect storage space for bikes. When dealing with multiple bikes, and you've recently renovated space but want to avoid putting holes in the walls, a stationary bike rack that sits on the ground is a great alternative.

Designer Phillip Gorrivan is all about organization especially when it comes to the garage. He's a firm believer that you need to divvy up the space in your garage so you can easily grab what you need when you need it. Bikes should be stored vertically to save space, but remember to have a ladder nearby to easily take the top one down when you need it.
