Pasta is usually one of the first foods people learn to make, right up there with scrambled eggs and grilled cheese. It's pretty much foolproof: boil water, add pasta, and stir. The one part that might trip you up though — straining.

There are various methods to straining, whether you're responsible and actually use a strainer or just put a spoon on the edge to block the noodles as you pour the water out. Either way, there's always the risk of food falling out or hot water splashing all over the place. Not the worst thing, but kind of a drag.

That's what made us excited to find this As-Seen-on-TV pasta pot, which doubles as a strainer. It has a lock-on lid with holes on either side. One is larger and meant for straining foods like potatoes or ravioli, and the other side is smaller, for regular pasta or vegetables. No more stray noodles down the drain!

The five-quart Red Copper Pasta Pot is also scratch resistant and non-stick, which means you can do things like mash potatoes in the pot without worrying about scratching the bottom. Its one flaw is that it's not dishwasher friendly.

A James C., who bought the pot on Jet.com, wrote a review that said while it was smaller than expected, it's "perfect for a small family pasta event." We'd like an invite, James.
