Looking for creative entertainment for your kids while they're home? Disney's The Lion King on Broadway has released free online theater courses that'll immerse them in the world of the hit musical.

An engaging arts education program, The Lion King Experience was originally created for schools and community groups. But since they're on hold because of the coronavirus pandemic, Disney has unlocked the courses so kids can learn all about theater-making through the lens of the award-winning musical.

The Lion King Experience has two curriculums. Designed for children ages 8 to 11, the "KIDS" curriculum is split into 11 sessions. The "JR" curriculum, created for ages 12 to 15, is divided into 18 sessions. Hosted by the actors who play Nala and Simba in the North American tour of The Lion King, the courses will explore the fundamentals of all things musical theater, including performing, writing, directing, designing for the theater, and so much more.

Each session in both curriculums should take around 45 minutes to complete. Your kids will begin each session by watching the video in the lesson plan, and then they'll explore the session topic through an at-home activity. After, they'll choose from three theatrical projects related to the session topic to create. Finally, they'll share their work with you and end the session by reflecting on what they've learned in a journal.
