Decorating your home can be tricky if you own a cat because of something they use daily: a litter box. Since most litter boxes are just plain unattractive, we understand if you want them out of sight. Now, you can easily hide your cat’s litter box with this genius DIY. In the video below, YouTuber Alexandra Gater breaks down how to transform a cabinet the perfect hiding place for a litter box.

After building the frame for a metal cabinet, Gater cuts a hole on one side of the cabinet and installs a pet door, which will serve as the entrance and exit for her cat. Then, she puts the doors on the cabinet. Since her cabinet has a lock and key system, she replaces it with a knob. To secure it, she uses a washer and the nut that the knob came with. But because the lock and key came with a latch, one of the doors wouldn’t shut. So Garter places a magnet on the frame of the cabinet to keep the door closed (Some commenters warned that the magnet might be small enough for a cat to swallow, so make sure it’s securely attached).

Now that the pet door is installed and the door knobs are changed, the cabinet is almost done. The last step is adding in litter and a litter box. Not only is this simple hack a stylish way to hide your litter box, it’s also functional since you’ll save space. Garter uses the other side of the cabinet to store a scooper, a small broom, and cat litter.
