Size: "First, consider the size and the number of seats you will require," Linett advises. "Next, the orientation. Will it be left- or right-hand facing?" Luckily, most of our picks are modular, so you can configure the shape however you please and change it whenever you want to. Just be sure to measure your space carefully before adding the sectional to your online cart, factoring in plenty of space for people to walk in front of and around your new outdoor sectional. A good rule of thumb is to leave about 2.5 feet of open space behind and at either side of a sofa and about 18 inches between a sofa and the coffee table in front. You don't want your patio to feel crowded.
