preview for Pella + Jo Saltz | House Beautiful

In summer 2019, House Beautiful editor Jo Saltz tapped designer Jean Stoffer to remake the kitchen in her family's New Jersey home. Stoffer designed the space with spreading out in mind: She doubled the floor plan by absorbing a second dining area.

At the outset, Saltz thought they might lose natural light by removing a pair of sliding doors, but she says that installing a series of Pella Reserve windows in their place retained the airy glow they wanted. The kitchen's windows, all from the Reserve line, help illuminate the space's different areas, and add to the room's overall design. (They're also easy-open and, since they're wood-clad, could be painted the same color as the walls.)

"When you walk into the space, the first thing you really see are the windows," Saltz says. "Your eye goes straight there." Get a peek into the new kitchen, and the thought process behind the all-important window selection, in the video above. And check out the rest of the renovation here.
